Dance Notations
Notations for many of the dances are available either to download, or to purchase in facsimile editions. Links are given below.
For links to the Library of Congress' Dance Instruction Manuals mini-site: For high quality images suitable for printing, you should download their “bitonal” (TIFF) images – you may need an external application to view these.
For links to the Bibliothèque Nationale de France/Gallica website: Unfortunately the PDFs from this site are low resolution. The large images shown on their webpages are sometimes better quality and can be downloaded in most browsers by right-clicking and choosing "Save image as" or equivalent. For higher resolution you can use the site's zoom function (magnifying glass icon) and select an area of the image to export.
The LM and FL catalogue numbers are from, respectively, Little & Marsh, La Danse Noble (Broude Brothers), and Francine Lancelot, La Belle Dance (Van Dieren). These works provide further information about the dance and music sources.
